Lowy Institute appoints new Nonresident Fellows

The Lowy Institute today announced the appointment of former Bush Administration Asia policy official Dr Michael Green and prominent Indian strategist Dr C Raja Mohan as Nonresident Fellows.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr Green and Dr Mohan to the Lowy Institute,” said the Institute’s Executive Director, Dr Michael Fullilove. “This adds two of the finest international policy minds from the United States and India to our roster of Australia-based experts.”

Dr Michael Green is Senior Vice President for Asia and Japan Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC. He previously served in government as Director and then Senior Director for Asian Affairs and Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs on the National Security Council Staff (2001-2005).

Dr Green's research and publications cover US strategy in Asia, Japanese foreign policy, the Korean peninsula, US diplomatic history, Burma, Tibet and institution-building in the Asia Pacific region.

Dr C Raja Mohan is Head of Strategic Studies and Distinguished Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, New Delhi. His involvement with Australia and the Lowy Institute includes his role as Indian co-chair of the Australia-India Roundtable, the premier informal dialogue between the two countries.

He has served as a member of India’s National Security Advisory Board. Dr Mohan has been the Diplomatic Editor and the Washington Correspondent of The Hindu and the Strategic Affairs Editor of The Indian Express. His latest book is Samudra Manthan: China-India Rivalry in the Indo-Pacific (2012).
