Nick McKenzie and Chris Uhlmann on their Lowy Institute Media Award nomination

Nick McKenzie, Richard Baker, Chris Uhlmann and Sashka Koloff are nominated for their joint Fairfax/Four Corners investigation into the Chinese Communist Party’s influence in Australian society and politics. Their investigation tracked the activities of Beijing-backed organisations and efforts to intimidate opponents of the Chinese Communist Party. 

Nick McKenzie is an investigative journalist at Fairfax who has won seven Walkley Awards. He reports on issues of corruption in politics, business and sport.

Richard Baker is an investigative journalist who has been with Fairfax for 12 years, breaking major international and national corruption scandals. 

Chris Uhlmann was until recently political editor at the ABC across TV, radio and online. In 2008 he won a Walkley Award for broadcast interviewing. He is now the Nine Network’s chief political editor.

Sashka Koloff has worked in radio and television broadcasting for over 20 years, and is currently a producer with ABC’s Four Corners.
