Anne-Marie Balbi is a political scientist (PhD) specialising in International Relations, Counter-Terrorism and P/CVE with a particular focus on counter-narratives and community resilience. Awarded a PhD scholarship as part of an ARC funded counter-terrorism project, she was one of the original researchers in the COVER (Countering Online Violent Extremism Research) program while at Curtin, teaching in International Relations and Terrorism Studies. She was also inducted as an Emerging Scholar by the Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA) in 2012 for a publication based on her master’s thesis, and was a Committee member of the AIIA WA chapter 2010-2017. She was one of the top 5 most-read contributors of AIIA Australian Outlook in the financial year of 2016-17. Originally from Sweden, she is currently based in Melbourne and has a great interest for European politics and international affairs in general.

Anne-Marie holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Political Science) from Stockholm University and a Master of International Relations and PhD from Curtin University.
