  • The WTO ended its Ministerial meeting in Nairobi in December and 'declined to reaffirm' its commitment to the Doha (otherwise known as the 'development') round of trade negotiations.
  • Heather Stewart says this is the clearest signal that the Doha negotiations, which began way back in 2001, are finally and truly dead. Kevin Watkins, head of the Overseas Development institute, discusses what this means for developing countries still fighting for a stronger hand in the harshly imbalanced world of global trade.
  • Steven Radelet has written an essay for Foreign Affairs based on his new book, which details the broad-spectrum ascension of the developing world since the early 1990s.
  • Over at Foreign Policy, Rick Rowden pours some cold water on Africa's economic growth prospects, arguing that a continued over-dependence on commodities and failure to industrialise has stagnated development.
  • Caroline Cassidy from ODI writes for The Guardian about how NGOs and development practitioners can improve their communications in 2016.
  • The Guardian has detailed its top development stories for each month of 2015. There are a lot of them.
  • For the more visually inclined, CGD has produced a video (below) on what their experts saw as the most important moments in development in 2015. The Brookings Institution also has a series of videos from their experts on the biggest development surprises in 2015.
