Early reports emerging about the death of senior Jemaah Islamiya (JI) terrorist Noordin Top suggest evidence of close links between his group and al Qaeda. The International Crisis Group's Sidney Jones is sceptical, and on Wednesday, when I interviewed Australia's Counter-Terrorism Ambassador Bill Patterson, he too played down the linkages between JI and al Qaeda.
