- Christiana Figueres, Executive Director of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will be at the Lowy Institute tomorrow to talk about her expectations for the Doha climate conference next month.
- The former President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed (pictured), is a great publicist for climate change issues. He was underwater when he resigned earlier this year and was the subject of a doco about his campaign for international climate measures.
- Australia's credentials as a champion of action to tackle climate change were part of our pitch for the UN Security Council seat. However, the paper on Barriers to Effective Climate Change Adaptation is yet to be released by the government (the draft version can be viewed here).
- Climate change finance is a big issue that will be a significant talking point at the Doha climate meeting in Qatar, especially in regard to Australia's role helping Melanesia and Pacific neighbours that may go under. The Lowy Institute released a paper on this issue last year.
