We know that things are crook between the Defence Department and the Gillard Government at present, as Graeme Dobell has explained in some detail. Events came to a head today with the, errr, redeployment of Defence Secretary Duncan Lewis to a diplomatic posting in Brussels.
In the circumstances, one has to ask whether today was the best possible day for Defence Media Relations to distribute this press release, which landed in my inbox with the title:
ADF DEPLOYS TO PARLIAMENT HOUSE
If that gives you a slight chill, let me reassure you that the media release refers to 15 ADF personnel who are to be \'deployed to Parliament House this week for the annual exchange activity as part of the ADF Parliamentary Program.\'
So, no coup then. But thanks to Defence Media Relations for sharing its hitherto undiscovered sense of humour.
