The 2012 annual Lowy Lecture on Australia in the World was delivered by Cameron Clyne on Funding Australia's Future.

Cameron Clyne became Group Chief Executive Officer of National Australia Bank and a Director of the National Australia Bank Board in January 2009. In July 2012, Cameron was appointed as Chairman of Clydesdale Bank PLC and National Australia Group Europe Pty Ltd.

Cameron joined NAB in 2004 as Executive General Manager, Group Development, and Executive General Manager, Customer Solutions.

Before joining NAB, Cameron spent 12 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, culminating in leading the Financial Services Industry practice in Asia Pacific, prior to the acquisition by IBM Consulting.

In 2008 Cameron was one of 245 individuals selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

The Annual Lowy Lecture is the Lowy Institute’s keynote event, providing a prominent thinker with the opportunity to reflect on Australia’s role in the world, and the world’s influence on Australia.

This underpins the Institute’s mission to analyse and stimulate debate on international affairs from an Australian perspective and to project Australian views into the global debate.

The Hon. John Howard, MP, delivered the inaugural Lowy Lecture on Australia in the World in 2005. Other lecturers have included:-

  • Professor Robert O’Neill in 2006
  • Lord May of Oxford in 2007
  • Mr Ian Macfarlane in 2008
  • Dr Marius Kloppers in 2009
  • Dr Megan Clark in 2010
