Canberra Event: India and Asia: Prospects for Security Cooperation

Thu, 12 November 2015
Canberra

India has an over-riding interest in a congenial and predictable regional security order in Asia. The maritime domain is particularly important not only for India but also for a region heavily dependent upon ocean-borne trade for its economic prosperity. As a country with significant naval capabilities, India could emerge as a net security provider in the region. It will also seek to develop a network of security arrangements with other major powers in the region, in particular, the US, Japan and Australia, to ensure peace and security in Asia.

Join us for a conversation between Ambassador Shyam Saran and Lowy Institute Executive Director and 2015 ABC Boyer Lecturer Michael Fullilove.
