CANCELLED - Australia-China ties: in search of political trust - Linda Jakobson and Peter Van Ness

The Lowy Institute’s East Asia Program Director Linda Jakobson will be joined by the ANU Visiting Fellow Peter Van Ness for a discussion focusing on the key issues raised by the recent Lowy Institute policy brief Australia-China ties: In search of political trust. Linda Jakobson is the East Asia Program Director at the Lowy Institute. Before moving to Sydney in 2011 she lived and worked in China for 20 years and published six books about China and East Asian society. A Mandarin speaker, she has published extensively on China’s foreign and security policy, the Taiwan Strait, China’s energy security, and climate change and science & technology polices. Peter Van Ness is a Visitng Fellow at the ANU Department of International Relations and Department of Political and Social Change. He is a specialist on Chinese foreign policy and the international relations of the Asia-Pacific region and is currently East Asian Institute Fellow for 2012 for his project on the Collapse of Moral Authority: Comparing Mao Zedong and George W. Bush.
