Event: Building a confident Australia for a changing world with Senator Richard Di Natale, Leader of the Australian Greens

Tue, 17 May 2016
Sydney

The biggest challenges of the 21st century are global in nature: climate change, tax avoidance, water scarcity, inequality, conflict and the displacement of people. Australia’s contribution to addressing these challenges should involve twinned strategies. Firstly, looking inwards to strengthen our national confidence through the establishment of a republic with domestic policy focussed on reducing inequality and building social cohesion. Secondly, to be a credible and compassionate global citizen, Australia must play a more significant role in relation to global warming at home and abroad. Our wealth can be leveraged as a resource for innovation in renewable energy generation and distribution. We can reassess our role in relation to peace and security, embarking on a new, independently-minded approach to regional cooperation and withdrawing support for senseless wars without end. And we can open our hearts to an increased humanitarian intake.

Join Senator Richard Di Natale, leader of the Australian Greens as he discusses how to build a confident Australia for a changing world.
