The Lowy Institute for International Policy, in cooperation with the Indonesia Project at the Australian National University, held a Mini Update on Indonesia at the Lowy Institute on Monday 23 September. The Update evaluated the latest developments in the Indonesian economy and political system, as well as regional developments. The Indonesia Update has been an annual event in Canberra since 1983. This is the eighth time we have held a Sydney version.

This year featured two sessions: A Political and Economic Update session, and a session on Regional Dynamics in a Decentralized Indonesia.

Audio from the event is available for streaming and download, and we have published a number of audio interviews which were conducted with panelists:

Part one is a conversation between Sam Roggeveen (editor of the Lowy Institute's Interpreter blog), speaking with Jason Allford from the Australian Treasury and Indonesia economist Dr Moekti Soejachmoen about the current state of the Indonesian economy.

Part two features the Lowy Institute's Indonesia Fellow Dr Dave McRae discussing the current political climate in Indonesia, and the lead up to the 2014 elections.

In part three, ANU's Professor Hal Hill and Dr Arianto Patunru elaborate on the links between political and economic decentralisation, governance and economic development in Indonesia.

Finally, in part four, Cillian Nolan from the Institute for the Policy Analysis of Conflict (Indonesia) speaks with Dave McRae about recent developments in Papua.
