John Garnaut is the former Fairfax Media's China correspondent. John graduated in law and arts from Monash University and worked for three years as a commercial lawyer at Melbourne firm Hall & Wilcox before joining the Sydney Morning Herald as a cadet in 2002. He became the Economics Correspondent in the Canberra press gallery and in 2007 was posted to Beijing.

Linda Jakobson lived and worked in China for 20 years. A Mandarin speaker, she has published extensively on China’s foreign and security policy, the Taiwan Strait, China’s energy security, and science & technology polices. Prior to joining the Lowy Institute as East Asia Program Director, Ms Jakobson served as Director of the China and Global Security Programme at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). She recently published a LI Analysis China's foreign policy dilemma.
