Lowy Lecture Series: Vice Adm. Scott H. Swift, Commander, US 7th Fleet Admiral

Vice Admiral Scott Swift is the Commander of the US Navy’s largest forward-deployed naval force, the Japan-based 7th Fleet. He has responsibility for the majority of naval operations in East Asia, including contingencies on the Korean peninsula. In Australia as part of the 2013 Talisman Sabre military exercises, Vice Admiral Swift will address the Lowy Institute on maritime security dynamics in Asia. Vice Admiral Swift attended San Diego State University and received his commission in 1979 through the Aviation Reserve Officer Candidate Program. He received his Masters degree from the US Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. He has served a number of operational assignments in naval aviation roles, including participation in operations Praying Mantis, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
