Issues like political unrest in Egypt, conflict in Syria, tensions over Iran's nuclear program and the seemingly perennial effort to revive Israeli-Palestinian peace talks mean that the Middle East is never far from international headlines. Lyse Doucet, Chief International Correspondent BBC World News, will join the Lowy Institute's Anthony Bubalo to reflect on her long experience as a foreign correspondent in the Middle East and discuss what the future holds for the region. As the multiple award-winning chief international correspondent and senior presenter for BBC World News television and BBC World Service Radio, Canadian-born Lyse Doucet spent 15 years as a BBC foreign correspondent with postings in Jerusalem, Amman, Tehran, Islamabad, Kabul and Abidjan before joining the BBC’s team of presenters in 1999.She played a key role in the BBC’s coverage of the Arab Spring across the Middle East and North Africa, and was the first western journalist to enter Qusair after it was seized by Syrian government forces.
