At the Lowy Lecture on 22 February 2012, Jamie Briggs, Federal Member for Mayo in South Australia, spoke on why free trade matters.

While free trade has delivered real benefits to the Australian economy, the continued acceptance of its being a force for good cannot be guaranteed.  The benefits of free trade must be reinforced and the opportunities it can create for the future must be advocated for.
