(Melbourne) Shivshankar Menon on Asia’s great powers and the prospects for peace
The Rothschild & Co Distinguished International Fellowship brings an internationally recognised intellectual and policy leader to Australia to help deepen our debate on global issues.
Shivshankar Menon served as India's National Security Adviser from 2010 to 2014, and prior to that as foreign secretary and ambassador to Beijing and Islamabad, among other capitals. Join us to hear Shivshankar Menon speak at events in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
Asia is undergoing a historic transition, with new great powers taking their place alongside the old, and in some cases aiming to displace them. To manage the new era of great-power competition, Shivshankar Menon proposes issue-based coalitions, which will differ in approach and membership, for the most significant threats to the peace and prosperity of the region: maritime security, technology, and cyber security.
