Non LI Event - Australia in the Asian century: Linda Jakobson

The Lowy Institute's East Asia Program Director Linda Jakobson will participate in the Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA's) National President's Forum themed Australia in the Asian Century.

On Thursday 23 August Linda Jakobson will take part in a discussion with other experts moderated by the ABC's Jim Middleton. Other participants include:

• Ambassador Yoshiji Nogami, President of the Japan Institute for International Affairs
• Dr Ruan Zongze, Vice-President of the China Institute of International Studies
• Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs
• John McCarthy, National President, Australian Institute of International Affairs; and
• Professor Peter Drysdale, member of the advisory panel of the Whitepaper Taskforce.

On the morning of Friday 24 August Linda Jakobson will sit on a panel with Associate Professor Simon Tay and Professor Richard Rigby in the first session of the National President's Forum also entitled Australia in the Asian Century. Other sessions at the Friday event focus on Economics, Strategic and Political Issues, and Education, Culture and Society.
