PNG New Voices 2014

Thu, 29 May 2014

The Lowy Institute, an international policy think tank based in Australia, is pleased to host the second PNG New Voices on Thursday, 29 May 2014 at the National Research Institute of Papua New Guinea, Port Moresby.

This one-day conference will bring together emerging young leaders from across the private sector, civil society, government and media to share ideas and discuss key issues that are vital to PNG’s future.

The inaugural PNG New Voices was held on 22 October 2012 in Port Moresby and featured lively discussion on areas ranging from transforming the national economy to Papua New Guinea’s place in the Asian Century.

This event will give a platform to ‘new voices’ and will take a forward-thinking view of Papua New Guinea’s challenges and its place in the world. Topics that will be discussed and debated at the conference include responsible sustainable development, Papua New Guinea’s relations with its neighbours and its regional leadership role, and new forms of political engagement.

At a cocktail reception following the conference the Lowy Institute, in cooperation with the National Research Institute, will launch the Australia-PNG Network, an Australian Government initiative to deepen people-to-people relations between Australia and Papua New Guinea.

The Lowy Institute is honoured to be partnering with the National Research Institute of Papua New Guinea in this event.

The Lowy Institute would like to thank the Australian High Commission in Port Moresby for its support for the conference.
