The Lowy Institute is moving
The Lowy Institute will be moving to new premises at Level 3, 1 Bligh Street, Sydney on Friday 11 December.
We have been located at our historic building at 31 Bligh Street for most of the Institute’s existence. The building plays a special part in the life of the Institute, particularly as the location for our events program. Due to a development occurring next door, we are unable to remain in the building for the time being and will move our headquarters to Level 3, 1 Bligh Street. Those of you who have visited the Institute recently will have noticed the significant scaffolding that has already been erected around our building.
Although very different from 31 Bligh Street, as Sydney’s first 6 star green office and home to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Offices in Sydney, 1 Bligh Street represents thoughtful and progressive design values that are consistent with the values of the Institute. It also has the advantage of being only a short distance from 31 Bligh Street.
Our new offices have a beautiful events space, enabling us to host events on-site. Our 2016 event program will commence at the new premises in the first week of February 2016 (invitations to come).
We will be based at 1 Bligh Street for four years or more whilst the development next door to 31 Bligh Street occurs. We intend to return to 31 Bligh Street when the development concludes and until then, from time to time, we will host events there in order to maintain the Institute’s connection with our very special building.
We have a full and exciting schedule of events and research in 2016 and we look forward to welcoming you to our new premises in 2016.
