Matt Withers is a senior lecturer in Sociology at the Australian National University. His research critically examines various aspects of the relationship between temporary labour migration and development across the Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on Sri Lanka and the South Pacific. His current research examines emigration policymaking in comparative perspective and situates the implications of transnational family separation within the migration-development debate.
