Dr Wu Shang-Su is Assistant Professor and Research Coordinator at the Homeland Security Program, Rabdan Academy, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He was earlier Research Fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is the author of The Defence Capabilities of Small States: Singapore and Taiwan’s Responses to Strategic Desperation (Palgrave, 2016). His articles, commentaries and op-eds have been published in Asian Survey, Contemporary Southeast Asia, Pacific Review, Defence Studies, Naval War College Review, and East Asia Forum, among others. His research interests are military modernisation, Taiwan issues, railways, and international relations.

Wu Shang-su obtained a PhD degree from the New South Wales University, Australia, and a masters degree of international relations from the National Taiwan University.
