G20 Studies Centre workshop 25 June 2013: Trade and the G20
Executive Summary
9–11am, 25 June 2013, the Edwin Flack room at the Sofitel Wentworth, Sydney.
Closed-door workshop hosted by the G20 Studies Centre, conducted under Chatham House rules.
Agenda:
The objective of the workshop was to have an informal discussion on 'what role can the G20 play in advancing trade liberalisation.' The G20 Monitor released on ‘Trade and the G20’ served as the background to the workshop.
Trade is on the G20 agenda and Australia will have to have a ‘position’. The question for Australia is how ambitious does it want to be in advancing trade liberalisation within the G20 in 2014? The level of ambition it adopts will have to be translated into the amount of preparation and effort it puts into the issue.
