Dr C Raja Mohan is a former Nonresident Fellow at the Lowy Institute.

He is one of India’s leading strategic thinkers and commentators and director of Carnegie India. Previously he was Head of Strategic Studies and Distinguished Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation. His involvement with Australia and the Lowy Institute includes his role as Indian co-chair of the Australia-India Roundtable, the premier informal dialogue between the two countries.

Dr Mohan is a foreign affairs columnist for The Indian Express newspaper and a Visiting Research Professor at the Institute of South Asian Studies, Singapore.  He has served as a member of India’s National Security Advisory Board. Dr Mohan has been the Diplomatic Editor and the Washington Correspondent of The Hindu and the Strategic Affairs Editor of The Indian Express.

Dr Raja Mohan has a master’s degree in Nuclear Physics and a Ph.D. in International Relations. His books include: Crossing the Rubicon: The Shaping of India’s New Foreign Policy (2004), Impossible Allies: Nuclear India, United States and the Global Order (2006) and Samudra Manthan: Sino-Indian Rivalry in the Indo-Pacific (2012).
