James Wise

James Wise was Ambassador to Thailand (2010–14), High Commissioner to Malaysia (2003–07) and head of DFAT’s Corporate Management Division (2007–10) and Pacific, Africa and the Middle East Division (2001–03). He had earlier postings to Bangkok (1995–98), Moscow (1987–91) and Port Moresby (1983–85). His book Thailand: History, Politics and the Rule of Law was published in 2019 and reprinted in 2020. His articles have also been published by Asialink, Australian Strategic Policy Institute, Nikkei Asian Review and the Bangkok Post.
