Majella Hurney
Majella Hurney is the Head of Policy & Advocacy at Save the Children Australia. She leads the organisation’s research and policy initiatives on humanitarian affairs, sustainable development and human rights. Before joining Save, Majella worked as the Head of Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs at World Vision, and has extensive experience advising on humanitarian policy issues across Asia, Africa and the Middle East, with deployments to Afghanistan, South Sudan and Sri Lanka.
Prior to this role, Majella was employed by the United Nations World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland as a Legal Adviser for the Global Fund to Fight Aids, TB and Malaria. She previously worked as a commercial lawyer for the international law firm, Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King & Wood Mallesons). She holds a Masters of International Law from the University of Cambridge, England, and a Bachelor of Laws/Business (First Class Honours).
