Tom McCawley
In his 16 years in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, Tom McCawley has covered politics, business, and economics for a range of international publications, including the Financial Times and Christian Science Monitor. His work has also appeared in the Far Eastern Economic Review and Wall Street Journal.
Memorable reporting assignments have included the fall of Suharto, East Timor's 1999 vote for independence, and 2004 Asian tsunami. Before moving to Asia, Tom studied Asian Studies and economics at the Australian National University. He now writes from Jakarta on security and business risk for international companies in Southeast Asia.
