Among the guests was Jin Canrong, Professor and Associate Dean of International Relations at Renmin University, China. The Obama Administration's so-called 'pivot to Asia' raises serious questions about US policy in the Middle East at a time of great turmoil in the region. On 2 May 2013 the Lowy Institute hosted an address from Vice President and Director of the Foreign Policy Program at the Brookings Institution, Ambassador Martin Indyk, who explored what the pivot means for US Middle East policy in President Obama's second term.
